Some examples of our completed assignments

DESIGN & ENGINEERING – BARKARBYSTADEN

Electropower was commissioned by the grid owner to take responsibility for detailed engineering in the area. Over a period of approximately four years, the company delivered around 4,000 engineering hours, distributed across roughly 30 projects within several development phases.

Barkarbystaden is currently the largest urban development area in Stockholm County. A completely new district is being planned, comprising around 18,000 homes, 140 blocks, new schools, cultural and service facilities, and approximately 10,000 new jobs. The development is carried out in stages and places high demands on the coordination of technical infrastructure.

The assignment also included representing the grid owner in all utility coordination activities and producing the electrical sections of the municipality’s procurement documents (AMA). The work covered cost calculations, electrical dimensioning, and grid analyses.

GRID STUDY – VEDDESTA NEW DEVELOPMENT AREA

The grid study included the development of an overall network plan for a new area with approximately 12,000 planned homes, retail, schools, and commercial activities. The objective was to create a long-term strategy for how the local power grid should be expanded to meet future demand.

Scope of work:
- Development of load forecasts based on detailed development plans, density levels, and customer categories
- Design and simulation of a complete future grid model in a planning system
- Power flow and network calculations to ensure the proposed solution meets industry standards and client requirements
- Development of a conceptual design for cable loops, sectionalizing, and supply strategies
- Dimensioning and placement of substations, including determination of suitable transformer sizes
- Ensuring the grid structure meets the client’s requirements for reliability, robustness, and future-proofing

The grid study resulted in a complete development plan for the local grid, including network structure, substation requirements, and capacity planning for the large-scale urban development in Veddesta.

GRID STUDY – STOCKHOLM ARCHIPELAGO

Analysis of the current state and identification of risks in the power grid, as well as an assessment of capacity and availability for the entire local grid on Ljusterö. The assignment included developing strategies and proposals for the expansion and reinforcement of the local grid, including division into two regional substations.

The work also involved designing and simulating a complete future grid model in a planning system and ensuring that the grid structure meets the client’s requirements for supply reliability, robustness, and long-term future resilience.

K745 – 16 MW CUSTOMER CONNECTION

Electropower was responsible for planning a 16 MW medium-voltage connection for one of Europe’s largest refrigeration and cold storage facilities. The assignment also included dimensioning and grid calculations for the local network, with a total of approximately 7 km of trenching.

The delivery also covered project management and coordination with the end customer to ensure that technical, scheduling, and logistical requirements were met.

DESIGN & ENGINEERING – VARBERGA, ÖREBRO

Electropower was responsible for planning a 16 MW medium-voltage connection for one of Europe’s largest refrigeration and cold storage facilities. The assignment also included dimensioning and grid calculations for the local network, with a total of approximately 7 km of trenching.

The delivery also included project management and coordination with the end customer to ensure that technical, scheduling, and logistical requirements were met.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT – EASTERN AND WESTERN STOCKHOLM

Electropower was commissioned to provide construction project management for several projects with a combined project value of approximately SEK 100 million. The assignment included monitoring contractor work with regard to health and safety, quality, schedule, and cost, as well as ensuring that the projects were executed in accordance with technical requirements and applicable standards.

SYSTEM STUDY

The assignment included analysis of the entire power system in the Stockholm region, covering approximately 140,000 customers and 32 regional substations. The work included capacity and vulnerability analyses, as well as the development of load forecasts for 32 grid areas. Electropower also developed a calculation methodology and an analysis tool for forecasting and assessing the grid’s expansion capacity.
